Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law

Bhutan's legal education is centered at the Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law (JSW Law), the country's first and only law school, established through a Royal Charter on February 21, 2015, by His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. The institution aims to provide legal education infused with Bhutan's unique development philosophy, Gross National Happiness (GNH), and to produce legal professionals who contribute to a just and harmonious society. ๐ŸŽ“ Academic Programs

Undergraduate Program: BA.LL.B./PGDNL

Duration: 5 years

Structure: An integrated program combining a Bachelor of Arts with a Bachelor of Laws, followed by a Post Graduate Diploma in National Law.

Eligibility: Open to Bhutanese students who have completed Class 12 with at least 60% in Dzongkha and English.

Admission Process:

Bhutan-LSAT (Law School Admission Test) assessing analytical reasoning, logical reasoning, and reading comprehension.

Dzongkha proficiency test.

Face-to-face interview.

Graduate Programs

LL.M. (Master of Laws): A one-year program by coursework or research, focusing on specialized areas of law.

MLS (Master of Legal Studies): Designed for individuals from non-legal backgrounds seeking to understand legal principles.
