Position Overview

A Legal Officer at SK Finance Ltd is responsible for handling the company’s legal matters related to recovery of debts, non-performing assets (NPAs), and other financial disputes. This role requires working closely with internal teams and external counsel to ensure effective legal management of cases. The position is suitable for candidates with 1–3 years of post-qualification experience in legal practice, preferably in finance, banking, or recovery-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Recovery Management

Handle recovery of NPAs and write-off cases through legal means.

Monitor and follow up on pending recovery cases to ensure timely resolution.

Contract and Documentation

Draft and review legal notices, agreements, and recovery-related documents.

Maintain accurate records of all legal correspondence and proceedings.

Litigation and Arbitration

Initiate and manage arbitration or court proceedings for recovery of dues.

Represent the company in consumer forum cases and other legal disputes.

Negotiable Instruments Act (NI Act) Cases

Manage cases under Section 138 related to dishonor of cheques.

Coordination with External Counsel

Work with panel advocates or external legal counsel to ensure effective handling of cases.

Fieldwork (if required)

Conduct field visits for verification of documents or legal proceedings, as necessary.

Skills & Competencies

Strong understanding of finance-related legal matters, debt recovery, and civil procedures.

Proficiency in drafting legal notices, suits, and agreements.

Good analytical and research skills to assess legal risks and prepare case strategies.

Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously.

Educational & Professional Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) is essential.

Experience: 1–3 years of post-qualification experience in legal practice, preferably in banking, finance, or recovery matters.

Additional skills: Knowledge of NBFC regulations or consumer protection laws is an advantage.

Reporting & Stakeholders

Reports To: Senior Legal Officer or Head of Legal/Recovery.

Works With: Recovery teams, internal finance teams, external counsel, and regulatory authorities.
