Section 16 the Probation of offenders act, 1958

Here’s the summary of Section 16 of the Probation of Offenders Act, 1958:

Section 16: Power to suspend sentence

The court which passes a sentence of imprisonment for a term of not more than three months, or a sentence of fine, or both, may, instead of sentencing the offender to imprisonment or imposing the fine, order that the execution of the sentence be suspended on such conditions as it thinks fit, including the condition that the offender be released on probation of good conduct.

If the offender commits any offense during the period of suspension, the court may revoke the suspension and cause the sentence to be executed.
