Section 262 The Indian Contract Act, 1872
Section 262 of The Indian Contract Act, 1872 does not exist in the Act.
The Indian Contract Act, 1872 originally consisted of 11 Chapters and 266 Sections, but over time, it was divided into parts and many sections were repealed. Now, the Act is mainly divided into:
Part 1 – General Principles of the Law of Contracts (Sections 1 to 75) – still in force.
Part 2 – Special kinds of contracts:
Contracts relating to Sale of Goods – repealed and replaced by the Sale of Goods Act, 1930.
Contracts relating to Partnership – repealed and replaced by the Indian Partnership Act, 1932.
Since Section 262 is far beyond the current active section range (Sections 1 to 75), it is not a valid or active section of the Contract Act today.
