Woman laws at Guernsey (Crown Dependency)

Guernsey, a Crown Dependency, has made significant strides in recent years to enhance women's rights and gender equality. While some legislative reforms are still in progress, several key developments have been implemented:

🟣 Anti-Discrimination Legislation

In October 2023, Guernsey introduced comprehensive anti-discrimination laws under the Prevention of Discrimination This legislation prohibits discrimination in employment, goods and services, accommodation, and membership of clubs and associations on the grounds of

-Although sex-based discrimination was not included in this phase, it is slated for consideration in Phase 2, which is expected to be debated in the next political term starting after the June 2025 election 

⚖️ Domestic Abuse Law (2024)

In 2024, Guernsey passed a new Domestic Abuse and Related Provisions Law, modernizing protections for victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence The law aims to close gaps in previous legislation and improve support for victims through coordinated efforts between the police, courts, and support organizations

🩺 Abortion Law Reform

Guernsey has modernized its abortion laws to enhance access and align with contemporary standard. Key changes includ:

Extending the gestational limit for abortions to 24 week. Allowing one doctor to authorize an abortio. Permitting nurses and midwives to perform abortion. Decriminalizing abortions performed outside medical settings
