Alabama Constitution – Section 129: Compensation of Acting Governor
Here is the text of Section 129 of the Alabama Constitution:
"When the president of the senate, or the speaker of the house of representatives, shall exercise the office of governor, he shall receive the same compensation as the governor; and when either the president of the senate or the speaker of the house shall exercise the office of governor, the president or speaker pro tempore of the body over which he presided shall act as president or speaker, as the case may be, and shall receive the compensation provided by law for such officer."
Summary:
If the President of the Senate or the Speaker of the House temporarily assumes the duties of the Governor, they will receive the same salary as the Governor.
During that time, the President or Speaker Pro Tempore will take over their legislative leadership role and receive the regular compensation for that position.
