*ECOWAS Supplementary Act on Personal Data Protection: Sierra Leone is a signatory to this act, which requires member states to establish Data Protection Authorities to ensure compliance with personal data processing provision. However, Sierra Leone has yet to domestically ratify this act and establish such an authority

Once enacted, the forthcoming Data Protection Act is expected to establish a regulatory body responsible for overseeing data protection compliance, investigating breaches, and imposing penalties for violation.
